Sa Bum Nim Russell, Chief Instructor of the Washington, DC & Northern Virginia Area, is a native Washingtonian, married and proud parent of three. He began his Kuk Sool training in 1999, following a long recovery after being hospitalized for a year. Determined to get back in shape he discovered Kuk Sool Won™ (KSW), and quickly advanced to the position of 4th Degree Black Belt under the tutelage of Pyung Kwahn Jahng Nim Marlin Godfrey, Chief Instructor of Capitol Heights, Landover & Dunkirk, MD.
A one time financial planner, Sa Bum Nim Russell found the study of Kuk Sool so exciting that he decided to become a teacher and went through the rigorous daily training that it would take, eventually giving up his full time corporate position to dedicate his energies to the study and teaching of Kuk Sool Won.
Now Chief Instructor of the Washington, DC & Northern VA Area, Sa Bum Nim Russell says “It is an incredible feeling helping students of all ages reach their goals.” Sa Bum Nim Russell maintains a high level of dedication to the art of Kuk Sool Won™ and is currently training to become a 5th Dahn (Master).

Jo Kyo Nim David Schuyler is a 1st Degree Black Belt in the Traditional Korean Martial Art of Kuk Sool Won™. He began his study of Kuk Sool in 1995, under Kyo Sa Nim Paul Watson in Pensacola, FL. Jo Kyo Nim earned his 1st Degree in December 1997 and eventually took over Kyo Sa Nim Paul’s Do Jang (School) in March 1998.
Instructing for three years, Jo Kyo Nim David made the decision to join the U.S Army in March 2001, and as a result he had to close the Do Jang. Out from under the influence of Kuk Sool for 10 years, it wasn’t until his son turned six that he decided to return to Kuk Sool Won™. He has now resumed his training, along with his son Ethan, under Sa Bum Nim Russell Moore of Washington, DC & Northern Virginia.
Since the age of 12, Jo Kyo Nim David has studied martial arts disciplines such as Kick Boxing; Shotokan-ryu Karate; the T.O.A.S (Transcendental Organized Applicable Strategies) Nabard Combat System; and most recently, Nakamura Ryu Battodo / Mugai Ryu Iaihyodo (Japanese Sword Martial Arts).
Besides spending time with his wife, four children and their dog, his interests include: Business, Personal Development, Reading, Movies, Video Games, and Weight Lifting.
